Our team knows that when your pet is sick or injured, it is important to you to get compassionate care as soon as possible. At The Urban Pet, we are here to give your pet the care they need during these stressful times.

Signs and Symptoms to Look Out For

Animals can be great at hiding illness or injury, but there are some symptoms to be on the lookout for:

  • A decrease or loss of appetite
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Acting “off,” especially if they aren’t moving
  • Distended abdomen
  • Acute or unexplained weight loss

What to Do When Your Pet is Sick

If you believe your pet is sick or injured, please call us as soon as you can. We’ll take the time to talk with you over the phone and assess the situation. Once we are able to triage your pet, we can advise you on the next steps. We try to fit in emergency cases as we can, but please know we want to be your first point of contact with your sick or injured pet. Our veterinary team will direct you appropriately after talking with you on the phone.

If our team is able to examine your pet on-site, we’ll do a comprehensive physical examination and appropriate diagnostics as needed. Diagnostics are vital to giving us additional information to make the best decisions to provide care for your pet.

Snake Antivenom Available

Snake bites are common, especially during the warmer months. At The Urban Pet we have antivenom in stock and available. This antivenom works for cats, dogs, and horses.
